Howdy

OK, Danielle and Jared have asked me to do a blog for some time. Won't they be surprised to find out that not only can I actually do one but I actually have very little interesting stuff to say. Oh well, they asked for it, so here goes . . .

I'm a voracious reader, so how about some recent books, both good and bad--

Good ones--Tried by War (a great historical piece that looks at Lincoln's management of the war and his usually inept generals), Galileo's Daughter (a focus on Galileo's life as an adult, his role as scientific innovator and thinker, and his relationship with his daughter), Thunder Below (an autobiographical account of America's most famous sub and captain in World War 2), A Different Drummer (Mike Deaver's reminiscence of his time as advisor to Ronald Reagan), and Flyboys (a grim telling of World War 2 from the perspective of both Americans and Japanese as they fought the air war in the Pacific).

Bad ones--Rama 2 and 3001 (both by Arthur C. Clarke, these are so poor in comparison to the ones that started each of these series), The Book of Guys (a downer by Garrison Keillor, creator of the Lake Wobegone stories that are pretty funny).

Besides these books, I've also been interested in Christian apologetics, so I've read a lot in the field of defending the faith. I will occasionally put some book summaries here as well as presentations I have developed after reading books and articles that were relevant. I'm looking forward to an apologetics class that will be held at our house a week from Thursday.

OK, let me know if you have any questions, if you have comments on the books choices, or suggestions for a better blog (besides shutting it down).
